Christopher Kane, Jonathon Saunders and Us...

We’ve had an amazing two years since launching Tartan Twist - lots of highs and very few lows. But the biggest thrill of all is being nominated as Jewellery/Accessory Designer of the Year at the Scottish Fashion Awards 2010 in association with VOGUE.COM, alongside fashion luminaries, Christopher Kane, Jonathon Saunders and Graeme Black, who are all up for Designer of the Year.

The Scottish Fashion Awards is Scotland’s most prestigious style event. The judging panel includes: Brian Duffy, (head of Ralph Lauren Europe), designer Amanda Wakeley, Professor Wendy Dagworthy (head of Fashion & Textiles at the Royal College of Art), Brigitte Stepputis (head of couture at Vivienne Westwood), Robert Johnston (associate editor of GQ), Dolly Jones (editor of VOGUE.COM) and Lucy Yeomans (editor of Harper’s Bazaar). To have been judged by such an impressive list of fashion experts is particularly inspiring.

The nomination recognizes the originality and desirability of Tartan Twist’s designs and is a fantastic accolade coming before we go to London in September to launch our new collection at the London International Jewellery Show.

Announcing the nominations, Tessa Hartmann, founder of the awards said: This 5th anniversary nomination list is a reflection of the incredible wealth of talent Scotland possesses.’

VOGUE.COM editor Dolly Jones said: ‘It is great to see Scottish talent receiving its rightful recognition. This year looks like the most exciting yet.’

Gillian has attended the Scottish Fashion Awards for the last two years. It’s always an amazing, glitzy red carpet event, with a champagne reception, a three course dinner -invariably cooked by a celebrity chef - and a wild party afterwards. This year the award ceremony will be held at The Glasgow Science Centre on June 20. So we don’t have long to find the frocks.

At least we don’t have to worry about the jewellery!
